The text of this short, eight-page booklet is from an essay I had written on Seymour Chwast. Chwast primarily designs in a rough, hand-made style, and I incorporated this in the front and back cover. Additionally, I pulled the hand-lettering from his website and used this for the subheads to further pay homage to his style. For the page layouts, I drew inspiration from Chwast’s Illustration: A Visual History and Graphic Style: From Victorian to Digital. These two books were perfect resources since he was also designing with an emphasis on imagery of artists’ work. He often used loose (but organized) grids and large images spanning an entire page, so I carried these spatial elements into my booklet design.
